Member Support Services
On an ongoing basis, GHA is exploring and developing new services to offer its members.

Registration.  In order to preserve the long-term legitimacy of the GH breed, GHA recognizes the need for collecting, preserving, and making available DNA and accurate pedigree information. The Registrar routinely performs an audit when the DNA profile of the sire or dam of previously registered offspring becomes available. Registration information resides on a server so as not to be irretrievably lost in the event of a disaster or accident. Provisions have been made for the preservation of the data were GHA to cease to exist.

GHA's innovative horse registration certificate displays two side-view photos of the horse, the horse's pedigree, and the horse's DNA markers on its back. The certificate backs of all GHA-registered horses are available online to members and nonmembers alike for viewing. The value of this service will grow as the number of registered horses, 291 as of March 2009, grows. Mare owners seeking stallions for their mares, potential buyers, and enthusiasts researching their horses' pedigrees will find it very helpful.

Education.  GHA seeks to collect and disseminate information about the care, breeding, genetics, conformation, purchase of, and other aspects of the Gypsy Horse. Materials are being developed and are being posted on GHA's web site as they are completed.
