Stacy Sutton Biography for the Gypsy Horse Association
Stacy Sutton has been successfully teaching and training both horses and riders for 25 years, as well as competing for many years in the disciplines of Dressage and Eventing. Stacy now focuses primarily on the art of Dressage, Western Dressage, and promoting the Gypsy Performance Horse.
Since 2008, Stacy has been showing Gypsy Horses in a variety of disciplines including: Dressage, English, Western, Western Dressage, and In-Hand. She also enjoys choreographing and performing in breed demonstrations, costume classes, and parades. Stacy is an active member of the United States Equestrian Federation, the United States Dressage Federation, the California Dressage Society, the Western Dressage Association of America, the Western Dressage Association of California, and the North American Western Dressage.
Stacy Sutton has owned and operated two successful Dressage Training Facilities. She constructed and operated Apex Farm in Wilton, CA. for 15 years. In 2008, Stacy and her husband owned and for 4 years, operated Oak Creek Farm in the Sierra Foothills region of Placerville, CA. Both farms housed 15 to 20 horses and offered Dressage training, boarding, clinics, and schooling Dressage shows. After many years of operating the equine facilities, Stacy decided it was time to sell the farm and find an established facility to work from.
This allows her the time to fully focus on the training of her clients and their horses and pursue her work with the Gypsy Horse. She is now based in Galt, California.
Stacy Sutton served as a chairperson for two years with the California Dressage Society Valley Oaks Chapter and currently serves as the Valley Oaks website, social media, and promotion person, and serves on the shows and awards committees. Stacy has hosted both three star rated and schooling shows in Central California, as well as organized several chapter activities and clinics. Spanning over the last 10 years, Stacy continues to host and manage three to four Dressage shows annually at her place of business and hosts Dressage riding clinics several times a year.
Stacy Sutton is the founder and President of the California Gypsy Horse Club, a 501-(c) (3) non-profit organization that supports Gypsy Horse owners, breeders, and enthusiasts wanting to network, promote the breed, show, and enjoy their Gypsy Horses in the State of California. The CGHC hosts an annual 3-4 day California Gypsy Horse Show and an educational/entertainment event to support its members and promote the breed to the public.
